Eric was more than a vibrant member of the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ community, his kindness, leadership, dedication and generosity of time and expert guidance permanently uplifted º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ as an institution, and positively impacted countless º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students.
Eric volunteered for more than 15 years on the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Foundation Board, and worked with the º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ leadership providing legal advice and strategic direction. His intelligent guidance was always presented with graciousness, integrity and alacrity.
Eric was a rare and beautiful force in this world. His love of family, music, Rockland County and our students was apparent in everything he did. His generous nature was reflected in his initiating and funding two scholarships in honor of his mother and father. Eric changed many lives for the better. He would fund other º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students in need as witnessed by a former º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Vice President:
“I was out to dinner with Eric, and a young waitress skipped up to us and gave him a bear hug. She introduced herself to me as a proud º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ alumna and told me that Eric was her mentor. He had covered the cost of her tuition and books at º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ, and he was putting her through college at her 4-year school. Her plan was to continue to medical school and make him proud.”
In Honor of Eric, The º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ Foundation established The Eric Dranoff Scholarship – A Scholarship of Hope and Light to support º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ students with a passion for community service and the arts, on an educational path to pursue a professional career.
In January of 2025 º¬Ðß²ÝÊÓƵ officially dedicated The Eric Dranoff Music Room which will serve as inspiration for future musicians.
